Our Story

Northstar Church Pulaski is the result of two Kingdom-minded churches in the New River Valley who have a unified heart & vision to see the gospel message of Jesus Christ lived out tangibly.  In 2011, conversations between the leaders of Northstar & Valley Bible Church, both of which are also church plants, began to discuss the idea of partnering to start another fellowship of believers in a neighboring local community.

Dave Farris, who had been serving on staff with the Blacksburg campus of Northstar Church since early 2009 & is from the Pulaski County area, followed the Lord’s calling to become the lead pastor of this new church work.  He began raising support from family, friends, & former ministry partners to step on full time as a pastor of Northstar.  During the summer of 2012, he led a small group of folks who were interested in what God was doing in Pulaski.  The group, with the addition of some local folks who had been attending Valley Bible, began meeting in the Pulaski County area in August brainstorming and praying about what the church would look like.  Northstar Church Pulaski was formed, and had its first nine members sign yearlong covenants to, “go on mission with God together.”

From day 1, the vision of the Pulaski campus of Northstar Church has been the same as its Blacksburg counterpart; to help create a gospel-centered culture where believers do not just GO TO CHURCH but are encouraged to BE THE CHURCH.  We feel that the hope we have through the message of the cross is infectious, and when transparently lived out among our neighbors, co-workers, & community it will have tremendous transformation power throughout the entire County.
