Dave Farris

After serving as a middle/high school youth pastor for 12 years & attending seminary in Cincinnati, Dave and his family returned back to his home state of Virginia.

He was brought on at Northstar Church in Blacksburg to serve in a variety of staff roles as the church went through several growth spurts. Eventually, the call that drove the Farris family back to Virginia in the first place became undeniably clear.

It really just got to the point where we (Mandy and I) could not avoid this step of faith any longer.

Dave, his wife Mandy, and their 3 children (Jeremiah, Thomas, & Caroline) started praying through what a new church would look like in a rural county that already had over 100 churches in existence.

Northstar Church Pulaski began meeting weekly on Sunday September 11, 2013!

Mandy, also a Pulaski native, currently works at the Carilion Clinic in Blacksburg as a registered nurse. She and Dave were married in 2002. Jeremiah (12) loves to play basketball and disc golf as well as watch any show involving Bear Grylls. Thomas (8) is a Lego Master as well as being an avid soccer player. Both boys adore their baby sister Caroline (3), who can already hold her own against her big brothers. The entire family loves to camp and spend time in the outdoors!

Dave is the Campus Pastor on the staff at Northstar. Visit our leadership page to get to know the rest of the team.

December Nights 2017

Each year during the month of December we encourage Northstar folks to rest, renew, reflect, and rejoice!  After all, there is already enough hustle and bustle this time of year.  So, how we practice this is to temporarily change how we do church. Rather than having teams of volunteers arriving early to set up the lobby, stage, auditorium, and children’s …

Volunteer Christmas Party 2017

News, Sermon Series

Whether you grew up hearing Bible stories or not, at some point, you more than likely heard snippets about the story of Jonah and a giant whale.  You may have dreamed about catching a fish that size one day or wondered how a man remained alive for 3 days inside its belly.  However, have you stepped back to consider in …

Duffle Bag Drive 2017

Each year, we provide local foster children with a Bag of Joy for Christmas as a small way of showing the love of Jesus and to remind them they are not alone.  This year, in a partnership with the local DSS, we are collecting new or gently used duffle bags to be used as the bag of joy. There are …

New Partnership with the YMCA

IT’S OFFICIAL!!! As of this week, we will begin meeting each Sunday at the YMCA of Pulaski County at 10am.  Among other benefits, this permanent shift allows our Children’s Ministry to continue growing while keeping our kids safe in a secure location.  We are looking forward to continuing to invest in our already healthy relationship with the YMCA and surrounding …
