Bags of Joy 2018

Dave Farris BE THE CHURCH, Community, News

Spooky season is halfway over and November is right around the corner, which means three things:

  1. First, it means the season of Christmas music is upon us!
  2. Second, it means that Missions Sunday is coming up soon!
  3. Lastly, we get to embark on a tradition that has become a favorite here at Northstar…Bags of Joy!

Bags of Joy is a ministry to reach children in Foster Care within Montgomery, Giles, and Pulaski Counties. Our hope is to show them the love of Christ by providing a bag of gifts for Christmas. This simple act is a way to show these children that the church cares about them. Last year we provided 150+ bags to children in Foster Care.  Many of the youth in foster care enter placements with little belongings. Bags of Joy provide youth with necessities as well as comforting items.  This year our Pulaski campus will also be providing bags to over 50 kids who are involved with The Rock youth center in downtown Pulaski.

Members and guests at both our Blacksburg and Pulaski campuses pick up the red bags and then stuff them with goodies for Christmas for children in foster families. The bags will be available for pickup beginning Sunday, OCT 28.  They will be due back no later than Sunday NOV 25.

This practical expression of Jesus’ love is also a wonderful encouragement to foster parents during this season.
