Hey everyone!

Here is this week’s Bible Basics video.

This week, we’re learning about Reading the Bible!

MUSIC:

2 Timothy 3:16

Church Clap

Walk This Way

TALK IT THROUGH:

How long do you think you could go without food?

Why didn’t he listen to the devil and turn the rocks into bread?

Why didn’t Jesus want all the kingdoms?

Why do we need to read the Bible?

MEMORY VERSE:

Psalm 119:105

Your word is like a lamp that shows me the way. It is like a light that guides us

ACTIVITIES:

  1. Read these passages together as a family this week:
    • 2 Timothy 3:16-17
      • Talk with the about God giving us the Bible and how we can use it to teach and show people the truth. The Bible prepares us to go into the world to do good for God.
    • Luke 4:1-13
      • Ask them what they remember form the story. Draw their attention to how Jesus used scripture against the devil. Ask your child what reasons there are to read the Bible and share some of your reasons with them.
  2. Begin a Family Bible reading plan. The Bible for Kids app is a good resource!
  3. Blind Leading the Blind Game
    • Tape a piece of construction paper on the floor for each child. Partner with a your child or have them partner together. Blindfold one person in each pair. Ask the blindfolded person to start walking to their piece of construction paper. Their partner should not help, so they will have to get to the paper without any guidance. Allow each person to reach a piece of paper or stop after a few minutes. Switch which person is blindfolded, and this time, have their partner walk with them and help them get to the paper.
    • Read Psalm 119:105
The Bible says that God’s word is a lamp and a light. When we try to do things without God, it’s going to be a lot harder to get to our goal, just like it was when your partner wasn’t helping you. When we read God’s word, it is like when your partner guided you to the right spot. We may not always know where we are going or what to do, but if we read God’s word, it will show us the way.
