Special Needs

Unless you are directly connected and/or related to someone with special needs, it is incredibly difficult to comprehend just how much time, energy, and attention it demands.  At Northstar, we have made the commitment to do as much as we can to learn and help invest in the ever growing special needs community around us.

Our first initiative on this journey is to organize the first of what we hope are many Special Needs Community Easter Egg Hunts this April!

Thornspring Pastures Farmfest will be (weather permitting) providing their annual helicopter egg drop for the community on Saturday April 20.  As per usual, along with all the fun attractions already on their property, they will offer 4 different hunts for four different age brackets.   This year, we are partnering together for a fifth hunt.  One that will be geared solely for the special needs children in our community!!

Volunteering — if you would like to volunteer for the egg hunt, we need plenty of help.  Whether it is stuffing eggs ahead of time, prepping the hunt area, and/or assisting with the other hunts throughout the day, we would appreciate the help. If you are interested, please fill out our online interest form.

Donating — we are hoping to have at least 2,000 eggs, which means we will also need plenty of things to put inside the eggs.  If you would like to help donate financially or by purchasing supplies, email specialneeds@northstarpulaski.org and we will provide further instructions.

Register — if you know your child will be participating, it would help to have you pre-register them so we can have an idea of how many eggs we will need to have!  Please pre-register your child here (registrations will also be available on site).
