Worship at the Lake

Dave Farris BE THE CHURCH, Missional, News, Worship

For the past 5 years, we have had the opportunity to hold our Sunday worship gatherings at the Claytor Lake State Park, and it has been awesome for a few reasons.  It gives most of our volunteers a month off during the summer, keeps us mobilized and on mission, and it has provided us an opportunity to build relationships with annual campers in the park.

Due to God’s grace, our numerical growth has made it logistically difficult to continue shifting to the state park for several reasons.  However, our growth has also provided us with other opportunities.  Worship at the Lake will still go on…in 2 locations!!

1 — The bulk of our Northstar family will be gathering at the Claytor Lake Baptist Campground in Newbern (see below for details).

  • Worship will be under the shelter at our regular 10am time
  • Families are welcome:
    • Childcare will be provided (babies through 2yrs old) in the white building on property
    • Activity packets will be available for elementary aged children
  • Bring a lawn chair
  • Bathrooms will be onsite

2 — Our growth now allows us to take advantage of an incredible opportunity to send out a missional community to continue our connection with the campers at the Claytor Lake State Park.  The plan is to provide worship, preaching, and even some families to come along for the purpose of connecting with campers and anyone else who shows up.

  • Worship will be at 9am due to limited shelter at the park
  • Families are welcome
  • Bring a lawn chair
  • Follow the signs to our worship location since we get moved around based on previous reservations
  • If you would like to volunteer your family to attend one of the weeks at the state park, please send Dave an email with a preferred date
