Our Story

How it all started...

The journey of Northstar Pulaski began in the summer of 2012, when a small group of families and friends began meeting to pray and dream about what a church plant focused on pursuing Jesus, becoming like Jesus, and living the mission of Jesus in community could look like in Pulaski County.

This small group continued to grow in number and unity throughout the summer and into the fall.  The first official Sunday morning worship gathering happened in Critzer Elementary School on December 16, 2012.  From then, we began to gather one Sunday a month in the school, while continuing to hang out weekly in homes, parks, restaurants, community centers (really anywhere we could fit everyone) to eat, laugh, study, pray, and worship together.

We had our official launch on Sunday September 8, 2013.

Whether in Critzer Elementary, the YMCA, or while partnering with multiple other local organizations, we have continued to extend and share the love of Jesus throughout our community.

We encourage and equip followers of Jesus to creatively invite others along to do life together.  To make the Kingdom (of God) tangible here on earth.

Expanding the vision...

Halloween block parties, community Easter Egg hunts, community worship services and service projects have all led to a deep sense of community within the Body.

During the next several years, Northstar Pulaski grew -- in its leadership, its membership, and its outreach in the community. "Be the church" took on new meaning through the various ways the church has interacted with the community. We have partnered with the public school, the local YMCA, and other churches to bring the gospel to the people of Pulaski County and beyond.

Where we are headed...

The year 2020 was a challenge for almost everyone, including Northstar. During times of quarantine, we utilized technology to continue spiritually equipping members and visitors through the Word and worship.

Now, in response to God's urging, Northstar has adopted a new model of how we live on mission in community to make disciples and continue growing under the lordship of Jesus.

Services are streamed live through several delivery platforms and watched at our "micro churches" through the New River Valley. This new worship environment provides every believer and sojourner the opportunity to worship and learn in an intimate environment where true community is cultivated.
